Use Case
Preventive Maintenance

What is it?

It aims to reduce the likelihood of failures. The overall goal of this process is to increase assets' lifetime by preventing potential errors from happening.

Preventive maintenance is usually executed, on different assets across the shop floor, by one maintenance specialist. This requires knowledge about specific details of every equipment. Therefore, the process is usually executed by more experience maintenance specialists.

How is it implemented?

Has previously explained, preventive maintenance, is a regular process that is scheduled according to equipment working hour or lifetime. Workers engage in regular processes to avoid breakdowns before they happen. These tasks can included replacing parts, verifications, and other, even if not needed. There are four different types of preventive maintenance that require specific types of know-how, which translates into high qualifications for maintenance professionals

  1. Calendar-based: The maintenance tasks are executed with specific schedule.
  2. Usage-based: Maintenance is requested a specific metric is almost atteined.
  3. Predictive maintenance: Predicts erros according to the equipment data history
  4. Prescriptive maintenance: Used as a predicitve method in which AI assists maintenance professionals in their processes.

Indendently from the method, thepurpose of a checklist is to reduce error by providing humans with a support tool for their memory. Additionally, by providing the same checklist to a whole team, consistency patterns are also improved.

How Industry 4.0 can influence the process?

STEP 1: Process digitalization

Processes can be digitized in platforms that organize the process, deploying a calendar with daily and future tasks for each worker to execute. It will allow not only to allocate tasks according to specific profiles, as well as track results, and control executions in real-time.

STEP 2: IoT Data

In addition, IoT information can be extracted from the equipment. Connections can be created and data becomes visible. For example, about the equipment behavior regarding temperatures, humidity and others. This places companies one step further to predictive maintenance

Benefits

Cost reduction

Error reduction

Efficiency increase

Proceses will be executed in less time and will demand less costs, hence tools are provided to guide workers through maintenance tasks. By starting to engage in predictive maintenance processes, costs are highly reduced. Additionally, by engaging in predictive maintenance, there is less time wasted with unecessary maintenace, when equipment is still in a good state, or dless time with downitme for maintenance tasks to be applied.

How can we help?

Our platform allows to digitize processes. This facilitates maintenance tasks hence it provides any worker with tools, both guides and remote assistance, to execute any task. This reduces the need to have highly experience specialists to execute maintenance. Additionally, with our platform, your company can take the next step into the maintenance quality, engaging in a predictive maintenance method supported by IoT data extracted with our product to an IoT platform.
