Lisbon, Portugal — 6 July,2026 — Glartek, a leadingprovider of AI-native EHSQ software, and MCG, one of Portugal's leadingautomotive component manufacturers, today announced a collaboration tointroduce Glartek's AI-powered virtual assistant, GIL (Glartek IntelligentLayer), into MCG's shop floor operations.
By consolidating technical manuals, repairprocedures, and factory information into a single conversational interface, available in smarthpones and tablets, GIL effectively democratizes expertiseacross the workforce — turning decades of accumulated know-how into guidanceany operator can access instantly, and supporting the safer execution ofcomplex tasks.
Instead of searching through binders orwaiting for a supervisor when something goes wrong, operators can simply askGIL, using text or voice, and get an immediate, guided answer drawn from thefactory's own technical documentation and operational data. For instance, if anoperator detects a non-conformity, they can interct with GIL, so it suggestsdifferent courses of action to resolve the issue.
The companies expect the solution to deliversignificant operational benefits, including a reduction in Mean Time to Repair(MTTR) and ensure critical knowledge remains available across generations ofworkers, reducing dependency on individual expertise and strengtheningorganizational resilience.
Before the project, troubleshooting often relied on informal communication channels, includingphone calls and paper-based reports. This dispersion of information increasedthe complexity of diagnostics, slowed response times, and made it difficult topreserve valuable technical know-how.
"AI has the potential to fundamentallychange the way industrial organizations capture and share knowledge. With GIL,we are enabling frontline teams to access expertise instantly, improvingproductivity while reinforcing safety and operational excellence," said LuísMurcho, COO of Glartek.
GIL is part of Glartek's wider EHSQ digitalplatform, which helps industrial organizations digitalize and connect theirfrontline operations across safety, quality, maintenance, and production.
Developed within the framework of the Hi-rEVAgenda and co-funded by the PRR (Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência), theproject highlights how collaboration between manufacturing leaders andtechnology companies can accelerate the adoption of AI-driven solutions andcontribute to the digital transformation of the industrial ecosystem.
