Glartek starts a new R&D project with three Industrial leaders

Glartek starts a new R&D project with Fraunhofer, Simoldes, and Águas do Porto to provide the Industry 4.0 with new and valuable technologies and insights.

Glartek has recently been involved in Sinatra R&D project, with Fraunhofer, Simoldes and Águas do Porto. The project aims to provide new insights to Industry 4.0 by improving knowledge on two technologies: Augmented Reality and IoT. As the main goal, the research will focus on the development of a new, trustworthy, and efficient way of displaying data to optimize operations. It will focus on two development fronts: 1. Human-Machine interactions: The first objective of Human-machines improvement is to display Augmented Reality data for two operators. Additionally, the project scope includes the development of technologies that allow AR users to visualize information through HoloLens and interact with the AR through a smartphone or tablet. 2. Recognition and automated lecture modules: Modules created to automatically validate image recognition and quality to gather field evidence, automated lecture of pressure gauges to ensure accurate data, and reduce execution time. These projects are highly valued in technology sectors, since technology, Research, Innovation, and Development are keywords to survive.

In short, the whole process aims to simplify access to information to speed up execution. Sinatra project is managed by three players that each includes a critical and complementary role:

– Glartek is responsible for planning and development. The company will define the use case, project architecture, as well as working side by side with all partners to create the technologies, and concept testing.

– Fraunhofer will lead the user’s research regarding maintenance, validate patterns, and create functionality modules.

– Finally, Águas do Porto will prepare the testing and execute test concepts and measure benefits.

As Bruno Duarte, CEO at Glartek, explained “We are very proud to participate in these initiatives focused on technology and innovation, where we can contribute with our know-how and acquire new and validated technological experience, alongside industrial leaders.
